English summary

How can I talk about this region and not talk of the olive trees and the extra virgen olive oil? This tree and it’s product are present in everydays life, in culture and in the kitchen, in the landscape and in the people’s generosity. This year there has been a very good crop and therefore, we already have a nice stock of the best oil from oour friends. I have to mention also that we have been told that close by we can find the oldest olive trees in Italy... when ever we go to see them I promise to tell you.

On the other hand, last year we visited the Frantoio from Vernole (Olive mill dating c. XVI). It is a very interesting place and brings you to a very old and dark world away from this one, we learned that oil was produced with great human and animal effort in very extreme conditions, that it was regarded as a precious good and could reach a very high price, the workers were locked in for months and payed with little oil and we learned that the oil was produced more for lamps than for cooking. The place is very well kept and I regret a lot that I never heard this before, I am sure my father, during his short visit last september, would enjoyed it very much... This might be the reason that encourage me to write about it, I found that there is a virtual visit and I can invite him and all of you to experience this place and read about it, so please do so... I am sorry everything is in italian!!.

Finally, there is a image of Laia and Ilona during that day, enjoying an icecream instead of the mill... you must agree that everything has a right age...
